Graduated NP school but stay as a RN

Specialties NP

I am in a predicament. Our house is on the market w/ hopes of moving back down south. My husband has 2 more classes at U of A to finish up his degree and if he waits any longer he will have to end up taking more classes(and he can't do any of these on line) so he will move to AL for the fall semester and I will be the only "bread winner" I know that i can pay for the bills etc on my RN salary but am unsure of paying them on a NP salary from the offers I have received thus far. I was thinking about staying as a RN till December and then getting a NP job or do you think I should just get the NP job(which I am not too terribly excited about the offer) to get experience under my belt but may have to take out a loan.

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

What about choice #3: keep looking for a better NP job? I know the housing market stinks in most areas, you may not be able to move for awhile. Most hospitals don't want to keep NPs on as RNs due to the liability for the expanded scope of practice.

Good luck - I know this is stressful.
