I just really, really need to vent. I have now waited 7 weeks (since I mailed in my application to take my ACNP exam) and have called the ANCC sooo many times now (7 times to be exact!) and have been checking my ID # on their website sooooo many times....and finally today they tell me on the phone that I am all set, they don't need anything else from me, and my application is complete and I am now eligible to sit for the exam. BUT, they still can't let me schedule the exam today and my ID # still won't work in their website!!! They said if I call back tomorrow, they MIGHT have that info available for me so I can schedule it! What else do they need?!?!? I just don't get it. I am so ready to take this exam, I have been studying since I graduated on June 1st. :( All this waiting is such torture. Ugh!!!

hey joan and christy, i am sorry christy that you haven't been able to take the exam yet i know how frustrated you are!!! Joan congrats..keep us posted...

Thank you for the advice. I tried again, but I got a message that says "the identification number you entered was not recognized"

The letter that I have from ANCC the "receipt of aplicaiton" says ...."your applicaiton is under review. Once approved, you will be mailed an eligibility letter which includes instructions for scheduling your computer-based exam"

I guess the number I was putting in the the ANCC corresponce number. Anyone else having to wait a long time for the "eligibility letter"

Hey, I do thank you for the advice though, I was hoping it would have worked.....no dice:no:

You will continue to get the "ID number not recognized" message from Prometrics until the ANCC authorizes you to test. It takes the ANCC several days (a week in my case) to get the official paper ATT to you, once you are approved. Keep trying your ID number with Prometrics (I did it 2x a day until it went through, but I'm a little OCD:chuckle). Once you are authorized, you will be able to schedule your exam, even before receiving notice in the mail.

I have a friend who teaches at a FNP program. As of last week, more than half of their class hadn't received their ATT letters from the AANP or the ANCC. Apparently, neither of these agencies were prepared for the huge number of new NP grads this year. They are extremely short staffed and they're attempting to fix it.

Yes, it is definitely a good feeling! What a relief it is to know you are all done with the test. :) Congrats!

I totally sympathize with your ANCC trials-I have been waiting 6 weeks for them to send a copy of my certification to my state board so I can be issued my (WI) license to practice as an NP. Many phone calls, many messages left, not one phone message returned. From a company that says it recognizes excellence in practice they obviously aren't compelled to practice it themselves! The start date of my new position has had to be set back 2 weeks as I await this simple task to be completed. If I was to do it again, I would strongly consider testing through the ACNP instead.
