DEA issue

Hi everyone, I am a new FNP. I just got an offer and is in the process for getting a DEA number. The director called me yesterday said that my DEA got denied because I did not submit "Authorization to Prescribe". Can someone tell me what Authorization to Prescribe is and how do I get it? Thank you.

In Texas you have to get the license to prescribe from the BON. Then you used to have to apply to DPS then to DEA. This year the DPS part is not required anymore. Check with your states BON.

In Texas, you get prescriptive authority from the BON then you and the physician complete the delegation with the medical board. Once the delegation is complete, you apply for DPS and then finally your DEA number. DPS is still required and you must submit your DPS number when applying for your DEA number. Starting September 1 of this year, the dps will no longer be required.

Is there a resource or checklist available that can give me the details for credentialing? I have no clue how to go about getting the DEA number and other numbers required.
