I am currently in an FNP program, we have to find our own clinical sites, does anyone else have this. Also if anyone has ideas of clinical sites in SW VA areas let me know, I am not from here and they seem hard to find, especially the OB/GYN ones.

1. Upper classmen

2. Your states advanced practice nursing society

3. Teachers

4. Your current workplace

5. All Nurses.

Be persistent. When you find a preceptor, get another one as a backup. Here's a thread that might help.

Network, call your neighbors find out who their NP or MD is. I actually found my last preceptor while talking to the cashier at the grocery store, I knew she had kids and asked her who she took her kids too. Talk to some of the Dr's who come in the ER or ICU it is amazing what can happen.
