Hello, I just recenlty graduated from my FNP program, and I am a little undecided on what test to take. My future employer has paid for me to take the AANP and the ANCC test. This week I got lettersfrom both that i',m eligable to test. I know there has been some postings in the past about which test to take, but I was interested to see if anyone had any new thoughts on the test. I am usually a pretty calm person who has worked for as a Paramedic, CABG-ICU nurse and ER nurse, but I am experiencing a great deal of apprehension about these tests. Any thoughts, comments, or help? Is one test really easier than the other?
thanks:uhoh3:

I graduate soon and have the same concern. Every NP I come into contact with I ask the same question. It's hard to get a good response because I have never met one who has taken both to compare and contrast. I have heard more people say, than not, neither are very challenging. I think one poster on this board said he could have passed without even going to NP school.
I am, however, going to take the Fitz review course live. I ordered all of her home stuff several months ago and I study a bit every day.
Good luck and welcome to allnurses.

Hey,
I saw where you posted early Feb about which test to take--and now you have taken and passed....Congrats...I hear horror stories of it taking many months to get a testing date...and then a long time to get scores....Did you get your score immediately? I am half way through program....FNP....look forward to hearing from you.
