I have a challenge, I am hiring a nurse manager for an area, and the docs want a specific candidate that I feel is not a good fit for the area.. has anyone had to deal with this issue and what was the outcome ?

A short story for you:
I made a hiring mistake 15 years ago that I've never forgotten. Was a good error.. taught me an excellent lesson.
The decision was down to two candidates. I wanted Candidate 1. Two others thought Candidate 2 was the better choice.
In my mind, "1" was a way superior fit for the spot.
Well, I was overruled... and in a short while, I got to realize I was wrong, and that "2" indeed had been the best choice.
