Anyone attend Watts?

I've been hearing it's pretty good, but would love to hear more input.

Thanks!

Can u give me the run down step by step process on how to apply the entrance test, then what's nxt?

Once you've successfully completed the entrance exam...I had to take it twice :uhoh3: (the key is time management! first section is 90 questions, 30 minutes consisting of spatial relationships, vocabulary and arithmatic.the second section is reading comp 4 paragraphs apprx 10 questions each, 15 mins..you don't have to answer them all but you want to answer as many as you can correctly within the allotted time)... you'll then submit your transcripts, application, and references... they will then send a confirmation advising you if they've received everything or need additional info... if they have everything, the confirmation will advise you to submit the criminal background check app w/ $... it took about 5 weeks for me to receive my acceptance letter *just received it today* :) they've been on summer break which delayed my response process is probably much quicker during the school year... good luck!

hey everyone! the first time i took the pre-admission test i failed (terrible scores of 43 and 23; i didn't have enough time to finish either part). the second time, i blew it out of the water with scores of 95 and 92. now i'm just waiting to get my 3 references back in the mail so that i can send everything in. i'm very worried that i won't get in. i've attended 2 other 4 year universities where it didn't really work out for me (personal things got in the way of school, and i didn't do well at all). i know they say they don't look at GPA's, but i'm still not confident. i want to go to nursing school so badly, and watts especially. any advice on this subject? also, once i do get everything sent in, how long does it take to hear back whether i got in or not? couple of weeks? month or more? and info or advice would be helpful. until then i'll be here biting my nails!

Hey Jess, I know the feeling... I was extremely anxious waiting for my response... I applied during the summer so from what I was told the approval process takes longer b/c everyone is on break.. It took about 6 weeks for me to receive a response..I'll be starting pre-reqs in Jan. I didn't have the greatest record from prior schools also due to personal issues but I blew the PSB out of the water... second time around : ) 1st attempt I scored 41 and 43... Stay positive! I think your chances are high especially if you have good references!

thanks for your help! i currently have 3 RN's doing my references. one is a travel nurse in new zealand who i met through my boyfriend. the other is a watts alumni who i went to high school with. and, the last is a nurse i worked with at unc hospital at the burn center. do those sound good enough? the last two are taking a while to get their reference forms back to me. i really wanted to get all of my stuff in before the january class filled up. i'm thinking about not using one of them, and using someone i used to work for. i'm also best friends with her daughter, and we all went to church together. so she knows me from work, personal life, and in church. should i keep ALL of the nurses or have some variation. i've also asked my references to write a seperate letter of recommendation. does all of this sound good?

Sounds good! don't wait too long for the other reference... I had the same issue and ended up finding an alternate... it would definitely help to use someone who knows you personally... I used an old teacher who was also a Watts alumni, a co-worker and an old boss... I would definitely get those in ASAP! b/c you still need to allow time for the background check which I was advised takes about 2 wks..Hopefully we'll be classmates in Jan! : )

Math is my weakness, so I was wondering is it nessecary to get the study guide now like I had planned to do. I'm going to register to test in December. Besides adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions, and turning fractions into %'s and vice versa is there any other math I need to study and be prepared for?

What are considered passing scores for the entrance exam? What is the lowest you can score, yet be passing scores?

Can anyone tell me what Math 121 is for MO for the Watts pre-req? When I checked classes for my community college Math 121 was Algebra/Trig. I know you dont have to have Trig for Nursing. We only have to have Basic and Intro to Algebra. Plus, can anyone answer this ?. I'm currentl registered to take A&P 1 in the Spring 11. I'm going to test for Watts in December. If everything goes well, and I get accepted I'm going for the June cohort. Will I get credit for the A&P 1? Or, will I have to take A&P at MO? Someone help me please Thanks in Advance!

Can anyone help me?!

What class at Mt. Olive College fulfill the Human Growth and Development prerequisite course? Also, did any of you find the verbal/non-verbal part difficult....how was it exactly?

Thanks

Are you allowed to use a calculator on the pre-admissions test?

You can't use a calculator but it's basic arithmatic such as fractions, percentages, and word problems... I suck at math but the key is to first answer what you know and come back to the ones that you're unsure about, if it takes you more than 15-20 seconds move on to the next as you are only allotted 30 minutes for the 1st section which includes 30 math, 30 spacial relationship, and 30 vocab questions. If you bomb it the first time don't get discouraged at least you'll be better prepared for the second attempt!

So would things like adding/subtracting fractions and turning decimals into percentages be on the exam?

I take it in October and am so very nervous!>.
