UNC ABSN 2015

U.S.A. North Carolina

Hey, all! Since today is the day the ABSN application closes for UNC, I figured I would start a thread so we could see who else applied. I graduated in May from NC State with a bachelor's in public relations. I took my prerequisite science courses at State (since I decided I wanted to pursue nursing late into my Junior year) and finished out my degree. I've been working at UNC hospitals as a CNA since I graduated. Waiting until August is going to drive me nuts! Is anyone else applying to other programs? As far as January start dates go I think only Duke has sent out acceptances, but I didn't apply there. Hope to hear from some of you and go through the wait together!

Hey all I am a rising Junior in undergrad so i have some time before I apply however, I am interested to see other people's opinions on somethings I have questions about. I am a Chapel Hill native, I attend school at another in state school and am a Health science major my current cumm gpa is a 3.5 and I was originally pre-med before I realized I wanted to spend more time with people so I was enrolled in Chemistry which UNC doesn't require, well I did poorly in chemistry, a C+, and am really worried about how this will look on my transcripts. I still have dev. psych, physiology, nutrition, and micro to take and my pre-req gpa is currently a 3.5. I am a D1 athlete, started my own clubs, have worked for years in a biometrics lab, am working as a clinical and social research assistant at UNC Med this summer, and shadowing a large array of medical professionals at UNC(mostly MD) I have a good amount of volunteer hours but really want to increase that, and am considering getting my CNA. My gpa isn't great however I still have time to bring it up I feel that I will end around a 3.6 for both pre-req and cumm. People that have been accepted do you think with good grades in the rest of my courses I can be competitive for UNC-CH?

Hi! I'm not sure if anyone on this thread still checks it, but for those of you who got in, where would you suggest living? If I get in, I'll start in January, and I'd love to get a house or a spacious apartment close to campus (or easily accessed on the buses) with other ABSN students. Did most people find it easier to sublease for a semester before signing a lease? Please shoot me a message if you have any suggestions as to what worked well/where to look! Planning ahead is a good distraction for me so I don't freak out about admissions :)
