New to Charlotte and the medical field

U.S.A. North Carolina

Hello Everyone,

I have just moved to Charlotte and am in the midst of looking for a career in the medical field. This might be a little long but I feel it is best to give you some background information. I was working in Baltimore at a clinical research unit while I was attending my first semester of college and fell in love with taking care of patients and the procedures of nursing. I had no experience in the medical field and started in the check in dept of our research unit. I expressed my interest to our study coordinators and they thought it would be a great idea to get me involved. I originally started doing the Medical Screening process - Vitals, W/H, and Medical History. Soon they were training me in how to do EKG's and taking blood. I only practiced on the employees but after a while they let me start taking blood on our participants while being overseen by an RN. The company hit a slow period and in time let a lot of employees go. The question to the long statement above is, I really would like to do a CNA or Phlebotomist certification while I go back to school for either LPN or RN. I can't find any schools in Charlotte via the internet that is offering any type of accredited training. Any help, information, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated and sorry for the long letter. Thanks!

Lauren

Hi Lauren! Not sure if you found the info you needed or not....

Carolinas College of Health Sciences and Central Piedmont CC both offer the CNA classes. CCHS also offers phlebotomy. I am going to take the NA1 class so I can work while I am in nursing school. GOOD LUCK!
