LPN relocating to NC

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Hi,

I'm an LPN from Mass. and hoping to relocate by Fall. I'm having trouble finding ASN programs in the Raleigh/Durham area. Anyone know of any? I've heard good things about UNC's Bachelors program and would love any info on that too. Also, I'm curious about the ave. pay for LPN's? I will most likely look for a position in Long-term care...I will have one year's experience upon moving. Thanks!!!

For two-year programs, check out Wake Tech in Raleigh (www.waketech.edu), Vance-Granville north of Raleigh in Henderson (www.vgcc.edu), and Watts School of Nursing in Durham. For four-year programs, check out UNC-Chapel Hill, NC Central, and Duke University.

The pay rate for LPN really depends on the job. I've seen some pay $15/hr, and others $20/hr. It depends on the agency you're working for. Unfortunately it will not be nearly as much as in Massachusetts, but the cost of living is much lower here.

Thank you NurseKitty! I appreciate it!

where in NC are you relocating to?

I was thinking about Raleigh or Wilmington. Although, I'm now considering Eastern Tennessee. My former Alma Mater has an LPN to BSN program! Too many choices! :)

Well, if you move to the eastern NC area let me know so you check out where I work. great experience and great pay especially for nites and weekends.

Theres also Durham Tech CC that has a ADN program. http://www.durhamtech.edu

i lived in raleigh for 14 years & loved it there.

with all the colleges in the city limits (nc state, meredith, peace, shaw) (+ wake tech is sort of east & south), there are plenty of young people, activities & nightlife to go around.

it's a family friendly area with a strong recreation & parks department, magnet schools, year round schools, private schools, etc.

outdoor ampitheatre concerts or the rbc center concerts, the state fair is a blast every fall, & carolina hurricanes hockey is a great show.

then there's duke university in durham, & [color=mediumturquoise]uncarolina in chapel hill, 45-50 minutes away, with the attendant football & basketball rivalries.

glenwood avenue south is a hot destination for restaurants & bars, pubs, etc., quite a few with outdoor seating for people watching.

living inside the beltline can be pricier, but more desirable- just be careful of nc state western blvd. area, as it can be the rowdy party area in the apartment sections.

otherwise, go for suburbs in cary, morrisville, or raleigh going out us 70 west from crabtree mall, north raleigh city areas - the west of atlantic avenue - not capital blvd area outside the beltline.

as research triangle park between raleigh & durham consists of it, medical, pharmaceutical, & manufacturing facilities, there are good jobs & a diverse population.

plus a wide variety of healthcare facilitites.

good luck,

Hey All......I have recently moved to Wilmington, NC. I am an LPN and have already received my license here (as well as FL). I CANT FIND A JOB!?!??!?!?! HELPPPPPPPPPPPP

I am being told by staffing agencies--that will call me back--that this is a bad time of year to look, I should wait a few weeks.

Any suggestions???? Thanks

Have you found a job yet? I am considering relocating to Jacksonville, NC and maybe working in Wilmington and also how much experience have you had. Would you also tell me what is the going salary rate there. I am relocating from New York. I am a LPN as well.

Thanks,
