Specializes in NICN.

Hey all! I am looking at moving to either the Charlotte/Gastonia area or Durham. I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on which hospitals to look at when I am looking for a job. I am hoping to start in a NICU right out of graduation so I would like to be pointed in the right direction as far as hospitals that hire new grads for NICU positions. I will have my ADN and would like to go on and get my BSN eventually.

Thanks,

The major hospitals in charlotte are: Carolina's Medical Center (http://www.carolinashealthcare.org), there are a lot of facilities that fall under the CMC system. And then there is Presbyterian Hospital (http://www.presbyterian.org), I am not ver familar with any in Gastonia.

Specializes in Gerontological, cardiac, med-surg, peds.

I don't know if you would be interested in moving to Greenville instead of Charlotte or Durham, but PCMH has just expanded its NICU and has MANY, MANY openings for new grads! They hire many ADNs right out of school.

Specializes in Med-Surg, Psych.

Thanks for starting this post; I could have written it myself! :) I am graduating in May 2006 and plan to move to NC. I KNOW I want to specialize in NICU.

Thanks VickyRN. I will start looking in the Greenville area. Do you know if PCMH has a web site?

Thank you!

Do you know who I could contact there? I would greatly appreciate any info you can give me.

I am from the charlotte area and think that CMC(carolinas medical center) would be an excellent choice to work in the NICU...you would love it..charlotte is such a clean city...not to mention CMC has several "branches" all located within miles of its Main hospital...they are also building a children's hospital that will be finished in 2006...welcome to NC!
