Davidson County Community College Fall 2013

Hi everyone! I am getting very nervous about receiving an acceptance letter into a nursing program. I have applied for the adn and lpn programs at DCC. I am finishing up my application at Forsyth Tech Monday. I am also applying to the college 2 hours away near my parents house as a backup. I took my teas test January 25 at DCCC and I scored 68.7. A minimum score of 62 is required to be ranked. I studied that book so much and was disappointed in my score. Teas score earns up to 10 points for the program at DCCC but I have no idea how they determine that from the score. Anyone as nervous as I am? I am so ready to take on all the hard work of nursing school!

Hello there!! Congrats on passing your teas and hopefully you'll receive your acceptance letter soon.

I will be taking my TEAS on Thursday..... Any tips you can give??

I also wanted to point out that you are sure you check the accreditation of the tech school.... Some employers will not recognize graduates of tech schools.

Best of luck!

Thank you Lexiie! Yes all the schools have propper accreditation. The teas V is the version I took. It is more difficult than the previous versions of the teas. Science is the subject I found to be the most difficult. I had tons of chemistry questions and make sure you know the cardiac cycle. That's all the advice I can think of. Good luck to you!

Thank you so much!!! ❤❤❤

I was told my 72 would give me 4 points for DCCC, so I'm guessing your grade will give you 3 points! :) Congrats on passing! The science was TOUGH

For science (which I found to be the hardest) make sure to be familiar with codon sequencing, the way blood flows through the heart, meiosis/mitosis, Punnett squares, calculating different weather temps (they give you the formula), why the periodic table is laid out the way it is, etc.

Math make sure to be familiar with basic quadratic equations, multiplying/adding/subtracting/dividing fractions, PEMDAS, percentages and decimals.

Good luck!

I am too!! I live all the way in Raleigh though :/ I applied there because my bf lived there and we were planning on living together... but we recently broke up. So if I get in, it's going to SUCK driving so far! Do you know which campus the ADN classes are at?

I believe they are at the campus in Thomasville right off the highway. Clincals may be in Greensboro and statesville I think. That would be over an hour drive, that does suck! :/ have you applied anywhere else?

Well, I was going to apply to wake tech and durham tech, but I missed the deadline, so I applied to vance granville, edgecombe, and johnston county. They are all about an hour to and hour and a half of my house, so I'm pretty bummed about that! But I did like DCCC a lot. They have a 74% on-time completion rate for their ADN program and they had the highest on-time completion percentage for their LPN program at 92%, I believe, so I would really like to go there!

Specializes in ER, IICU, PCU, PACU, EMS.
