CFCC?

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Hi! I jumped from the NH board to the NC one! Hubby and I moved down to NC in mid-May because we were sick of the New England winters. I was enrolled in a nursing program back in NH (supposed to start this past semester) but I found out I was pregnant so I was going to start up there next fall. Since we moved, I'm now going through the entire app process again. Anyone gone to, going or applying to CFCC for 2010? I'm super nervous about getting in through the points system. I have all my prereqs (except Micro) done w/ A's in the majority of them with a couple of B's scattered in. I'm also applying to Coastal Community in Jacksonville too, want to have the best possible chances, ya know.

Nice to "meet" you all!

CFCC has a great reputation, and I have enjoyed working along side many of their graduates...I would pick CFCC over CCCC 8 days a week, just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the input! My definate first choice is CFCC, but I applied at CCCC as a back up just in case.

Where are you living? Really the CCCC program isn't horrible, but they are very, very limited as to what they'll experience in clinicals. CFCC is using New Hanover Regional for many of their clinicals, it's a larger hospital with a level 2 trauma center, open heart surgery, interventional cardiology/cath lab, etc. Better experiences in school. That's the main reason I would have picked it over Coastal.

I live in Burgaw, so I"m kind of 1/2 way in between Wilmington and Jacksonville. I'd much, much rather get into CFCC, but I applied to CCCC as a back up. I have a bachelor's degree already, so I have most, if not all of the core classes (english, math, psych, etc) and I have both A&P I and II with A's in both, so I'm really hoping to get into CFCC, I'm just worried about the points system, since the school I was going to in NH was a private school that did not use that system. The only thing I *think* I"ll need is the Microbiology, besides the Nursing classes.....

Good luck, I think you should be able to get in CFCC...but I didn't go there, so I don't really understand their system. Have fun, either way! It's worth the hard work, IMHO.

Woo Hoo!!! I got my letter last week, I got in!!! Wish me luck!

Good Luck! I'll probably see you around the hospital when you start clinicals...I'll be one of the guys in the black flightsuit. Have fun!

People keep telling me that CFCC's program is a grade point average Killer, even for students who usually get straight A's. I am wanting to pursue a B.S.N. and then further after the RN program and people's comments are starting to make me wonder if I'll get into top schools with less than straight A's. Some people said they and most students in the class were lucky to let C's and studied their butts off. Does anyone know if this is true? Believe me I work and study VERY hard for everything to keep my grades up and by no means am looking for easy A's... but if it is impossible I may need to look elsewhere??????? Does anyone have the REAL TRUTH??

I would really like to hear about this as well, as I am looking to take either the full or part-time option at CF this fall/spring.

I can let you know my input after classes start in 2 months!
