My husband and I are considering a move to the Asheville area once I finish school. We are currently living in Louisiana where I will be attending nursing school later this year and the University of Louisiana. I am curious about information on what will it take for me to transfer to NC once I complete my education.
There is always the possibility though that he may be transferred while I am still in school. If this is the case then I am interested in information on Universities and/or nursing programs in the Asheville area where I will be able to complete my BSN.
Steph - Asheville is a wonderful place to live .... I have been here a little over a year and love the mountains. I have to admit that the cost of living is far higher than I anticipated when I first moved here and nurses wages are not at all what I expected. This is especially true for new graduates. There are 2 Associate Degree programs in the area - actually three if you consider Haywood Community College and there is Western Carolina University which offers a BSN program. From my perspective, I would encourage anyone who is already in a program to finish that program before coming here .... there are waiting lists that are pretty long to get into programs here .... not sure how it works for transfer students and perhaps it might be easier to transfer to a program than get in as a beginning student.
Good luck with your move and let us know if you have any more questions.
