Hello and welcome to the Raleigh area! I am currently enrolled in the ADN program at Wake Tech (grad. Dec 08!). To get into the program, you must complete the majority of the pre-reqs required to apply to the program. This took me almost 2 years going part-time. After you get accepted, part-time is no longer an option, nor is night classes. The course load hasn't been too bad but if you plan on working while in school (anything more than part-time work) you might have a tough time when it comes to the amount of hours needed to prepare for tests/clinicals/etc. The teachers (for the most part) are friendly and really want to see you succeed, and they have alot of great tips coming from there years of experience. I would tell you more about the classes themselves, but the program is changing to an integrated program for all incoming students, and I'm really not sure what they are going to change. When looking forward to graduation, I think we've learned alot, but as I've been told by many seasoned nurses, we walk out green and will continue to feel that way until the "ah-ha!" moment happens (most have said it happened to them around 6 months of practice!). i graduated with my RN:chuckle from johnston cc this past may from the transition program for lpn's which is a brand new program..and i have to tell u the program was a blessing for me..so if ur a lpn i would totally recommend jcc or if ur not a lpn i heard the 2 year generic program is really good too. i obtained my lpn from cccc in 2000 and i went back to get my rn in 2001 with not a good experience so i highly recommend jcc anytime..
