RNC exam

Specialties NICU

Published

I will be taking the RNC NICU (high risk) exam in late summer or early fall. I was hoping for tips on study materials and the study process. I currently am studying from The Neonatal Handbook, Certification review, & Physical Assessment of the Newborn.

My unit is a Level III NICU but we do not have ecmo and send out cardiac kids that need more than minimal intervention. Needless to say the cardiac content is a little daunting.

Thank you for any feedback, it will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,I am looking for information on Neonatal Resuscitation training simulators?

Simulators are a richer training experience as compared to conventional E Learning methodology of content study, followed by a practice quiz . An NRP Computer Integrated Simulator should provide an environment that is as close as possible to an actual clinical situation providing an opportunity for participants to think on their feet". There are various types of simulators

1-Basic mannequin, essentially a CPR dummy.Suitable for practice of chest compression and ventilation practice. This is in the low hundreds of dollars.

2-Computer software based simulator without any mannequin. This should integrate the neonatal resuscitation flow chart.Web accessible ones are to be preffered.

3-Computer integrated simulator with a mannequin-Obviously the best option, however the price tag can be heavy and may lack specificity for neonatal resuscitation training.

Computer integrated simulator with optional mannequin for neonatal resuscitation training is available at mscscience.com

Sorry, I have no idea. It's been quite a few years and I just don't remember. They might have come with the book, though.
