Ideas for our nursing model in the NICU

Everyone I need ideas!

I am working on my BSN and need to do a "change project". Have to think up something to change in our unit, how to go about the change, and pressent the idea.

We are currently in the process of changing our nursing model here it is called "relationship-based nursing". Basically each area is to develop what will work for them following the guide. In our NICU we do have a communication issue...and primary nursing in the current formate is not working. So far we have 5 consultants and a 31 bed unit...and probally will enlarge within 5 years.

What are you all doing for nursing practice in your NICU's....primary care...team nursing....do the consultants follow a baby with their personal likes or therorys through to discharge or does everything change as each consultant changes and starts their call or rotation.

What would you LIKE to see?

I'd be Very interested in hearing your ideas and will share mine as well as soon as I get it more togehter.
