University of Rochester May 2013

U.S.A. New York

Hello all! Just wanted to start a thread for students starting the accelerated nursing program at U of R this May. Figured we might have some questions about the school, city and living arrangements. I'm super excited to start the program! Oh, and I'm a 24 year old male moving from Buffalo, NY.

I started a facebook group for us if anyone is interested! University of Rochester ABPNN May 2013

Will be visiting Rochester from Washington State in 2 weeks to check out housing. Have been on Rochester Craigslist and looks like streets near Helen wood Hall?? are best best. Decided to leave my yellow lab behind with Mom though....thought it would limit my housing choices! Will miss him terribly!

Can't find that on fb??

Hello! I am VERY worried about the climate change, I can barely handle Cali winter weather too! :***: haha I was thinking the exact same thing about finding a roommate with a dog! I wouldn't want her to be home alone all day...

Kim I JUST saw your message! Climate change is an understatement! haaha.

Hi everyone! Congratulations on your acceptance! I was just informed that I was accepted... I am not completely sure if I will be attending UofR because I was also accepted to the University of Miami... but I think I will be attending UofR!

Hello everyone! I've recently been accepted into the May 2013 cohort. I'm so grateful for this wonderful opportunity. I've heard nothing but great things about the program. Originally, I planned on attending Marquette for a DE-MSN, but think it's important to gain a solid foundation in nursing with a BSN before pursuing an advanced degree. I look forward to starting school and meeting you all in May!

Also, just want to say I'm currently living in the area (moved from Chicago to attend UR for a different graduate program) and I'm happy to answer any questions about Rochester etc. :)

I also have a dog, and really want to find a way to bring him. Have you figured out how you are going to make it work?

I have two dogs! Sounds like a lot of us might have a few study sessions at the dog park!

AlmondB10 - How have you liked Rochester? I also lived in Chicago for awhile before moving around and landing here. Chicago was probably my favorite place to live!

Also do a search on FB for University of Rochester ABPNN May 2013 for the group.

Has anyone else found the Facebook group? When I search University of Rochester ABPNN May 2013 my search results show that nothing matches my criteria.

Congrats to everyone who got in!

Hi AlmondB10

I visited Rochester and think I found a housemate and house! Right across from the SON. I can literally role out of bed haaahhaa. We could use a third housemate. Hilton, have you found someone to watch your dog yet. Every place I checked into would not allow them, only one, and it was a real dump!

Martha110 - It's great that you found a house so close to the SON since parking at the UofR can be a real challenge! I'm not looking forward to making the long trek from the parking lot by foot/bus during colder months.

Nickpwalters - I like Rochester well enough to stay for another year or so. It doesn't really compare to Chicago, but I appreciate the high level of diversity and culture despite its small size. It's kind of a quirky city and the people are generally very friendly. I've had nothing but positive experiences at the University of Rochester itself. It's nice to know there will be a fellow former Chicago resident in the program! :)

Hilton1234 - I still can't find it. I'm able to find pages for Jan and Sept cohorts, though. Hmmm....

Just out of curiousity...how old is everyone?
