To the relatively new nurses out there:

I am interested in applying to NYPH (Cornell or Columbia). On their website, it suggested new grads who graduate in May apply in late Jan. So that's what I plan to do.

My question is: for anyone who started at NYPH as a new grad, when did you apply, interview, etc?

I will graduate in May with BSN, decent GPA, externship, etc. I can be pretty persistent if I need to be. I also don't mind working Med/Surg nights.

Any advice or hints welcomed and apprecated!!

Thanks. :nurse:

Oh P.S. I'm out of state.

I applied in... May? I think? To a floor I'd been on for 9 weeks as a student. There was a long delay 2/2 issues with how the job had been posted internally vs externally (union stuff). Was interviewed in early June, officially hired July 14, and started work August 15. I was in the first group of new grads hired that year, as I think the earlier summer starts are for internal transfers only. Your mileage may vary, as there were significant issues with my recruiter, who is no longer with the organization. Each division of the hospital has its own recruiter, sometimes more than one. And Columbia and Cornell have different HR departments and different hiring processes, as Columbia is union and Cornell is not.
