Moving to NYC

Hey, I'm a RN with her BSN in Georgia and wish to move to NYC next year. I understand the high cost of living in the city but I wish to know more about different hospitals and how to get a job in the city. I also have family that lives in the city (Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn). If you guys have any good advice I would appreciate it. Thanks.

That's funny, I was just thinking the other day that if I could't find a job (I'm a recent grad from the area) within a yea, I would move to Georgia.

There are the HHC hospitals (the city owned hospitals):

Bellevue Hospital Center

Coney Island Hospital -Brooklyn

Elmhurst Hospital Center -Queens

Harlem Hospital Center -Manhattan

Jacobi Medical Center -Bronx

Kings County Hospital Center-Brooklyn

Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center -Bronx

Metropolitan Hospital Center -Manhattan

North Central Bronx Hospital -Bronx

Queens Hospital Center-Bronx

Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center -Brooklyn

Private

NYU Langone Medical Center -Manhattan

Colombia Presbyterian/Weill Cornell -Manhattan (Buying up a lot of hospitals)

Maimonides Medical Center -Brooklyn

Methodist Hospital-Brooklyn

Brooklyn Hospital-Brooklyn

Kinsgbrook Jewish Medical Center-Brooklyn

Montefiore -Bronx

SUNY Downstate -Brooklyn (I don't know what is going on here, are they going to close, are they being bought?)

This list is most likely incomplete, because I'm mainly familiar with Manhattan/Brooklyn hospitals

However I can only speak for the new grads, the situation is dire, there is an over saturation of new nurses, and nobody wants to hire us.

I would wait for the responses of more mature and experienced nurses before making any life altering decisions.
