I applied for a RN per diem position at New York Downtown Hospital and HR called me for an interview in two week. I would love to know the working condition at New York Downtown Hospital for nurses. Any insights are welcome!

Really, which floor(s) are you hired for? After the orientation, I actually never return for more per diem work. I guess seeing how they function kinda kept me away. After working for few hospitals that have so many resources (ie, supply, supporting staff, pharm, no IV team, etc.), I was kinda spoiled and don't think I'll like working for NYDH. Therefore, I decided not to return. The only things that I like is the nurses, they are really nice and helpful when I was there. Are you doing per diem in addition to full-time elsewhere?

I was offered a position for ER borders. I work Per Diem at another hospital and usually get 3 12hr shifts a week..same type of floor. I hooked up with White Glove agency who found me this position. I would be traveling from Staten Island which means taking the ferry..ect.. Where did you wind up working after that? Are you from the area? The jobs they are offering me are not so appealing. Any suggestions?

In 2009, the per diem rate for RN was $48 for day shift and $50 for night shift. I'm sure they increase it every year. Good luck!
