Bronx C.C.non-clinical vs. SUNY Buffalo

U.S.A. New York

Hello Everyone,

I already have a BA in another field, and got accepted to Bronx Community for non-Clinical nursing (spring 09) and I also got into SUNY buffalo for pretty much the same thing. I currently reside in NYC with my parents and was wondering if anyone knows about BCC's program, I am confused about going to BCC where I won't pay room and board or buffalo where I will rack up close to $18,000 in loans and I am still not in the nursing program directly. Thanks for your advice!!!!!

At BCC the tuition rate is $120.00 per credit.....the nursing program is very rigid, I'm a prenursing student at BCC, unfortunately I will not be completing my studies there, everyone I know that is in the program complains about the complexity of the program, most people do their prerequiste there and go elsewhere.

Don't want to discourage you, BCC has a very good reputation, I'm sure if you study hard and get good grades you'll make it....good luck.

What do you mean non-clinical? I did my two year of pre-requs at KBCC and then went upstate to get my actual BSN at SUNY Brockport. This was about 5-6 years ago but I remember there being waiting lists for even CC nursing programs. I didn't have the patience so decided to go where I could start right after my 2years was up. As it was I moved back to NYC area for my first year of nursing worked crazy over time and got my school loans, car loan(Corolla) and credit card debt paid off (while paying 900/month for rent in Brooklyn) by the end of my second year. So don't think it's impossible to pay off. Plus in NYC some hospitals wont loook at you if you dont have your BSN. As it happens I made great friend up in the Rochester area and decided to come back to the area to work on my masters for NP. Anyway good luck!
