UNM RN-BSN program

I'm so frustrated and need to get this out and I figured this may be an OK place do do this at.

I have applied and been accepted to the UNM RN-BSN program and will be starting in January. Throughout this whole process of applying and taking the mobility exam and everything, my plan was to do two semesters of full time study to be done in less than a year. That is why I chose this program.

I got my offical acceptance notice the other day and it said in there that "due to funding issues you will only be allowed to register for (one class)". WTH??????

I have been in constant contact with the shool for the past 6 months making sure everything is going OK and not once did anyone mention anything about only being allowed to take one class at a time!

I'm so upset with this because I was going to apply for my masters in August at UNM but if this is how they are treating the RN-BSN students, how do they treat the MSN students?

It's really a shame that this happened and I have every intention of writing a letter to the head of the program to let them know my feelings.

A part of me is saying that it really shouldn't be that big of a deal, it's one extra semester. But when you are already in the midst of financially planning your MSN and when to have another child, this really messes things up. I'm hoping it's a sign for better things to come but in the meantime, it stinks!

Aerorunner, I feel your pain. I've experienced the same shenanigans. In fact, when I went to register for that ONE class, on the SAME day I was accepted, I was met with an error message saying the class was already full, including the wait list. I had to laugh; the sheer absurdity of it was no surprise. Why? For one thing, it's New Mexico, land of maƱana. Everything takes longer than expected and, after nursing school, I've had plenty of experience with this kind of ridiculousness. Beyond that, UNM CON is not run like a well-oiled machine. At this point, I expect hiccups. So, I'd either be willing to go with the flow and laugh at the ridiculousness as these issues arise (surely, this will not be the first of them) or enroll in a program that's better organized. Otherwise, you'll go crazy over these frustrations!
