UMDNJ Accelerated BSN Summer 2013

U.S.A. New Jersey

Published

Hey everyone, is anyone in the process of applying or have already applied to UMDNJ's ABSN program for the summer of 2013? It would be great to hear what applicants thought about the application process. Thanks!

please someone help me

At the info session I attended a couple of months ago they said all pre-reqs had to be finished.

Thnx so is that the mean people can't apply until pre req finished?? Do they have any exception...

I went to the July orientation and was excited about finishing prereqs and applying for the May 2014 accelerated program. We were told and already knew the UMDNJ nursing dept. was now Rutgers, but were assured that they were still separated from the original Rutgers nursing department (School of Nursing vs. College of Nursing). Just found out TODAY that the UMDNJ program is OVER - they only have the Rutgers nursing department! That means almost completely different prerequisites. What really gets me, is my friend had to call for a different reason to find out (she spoke to the recruiter who was at the orientation) - and they have everyone's information from the orientation, didn't even bother to send out an email to let us know. They also still have the website up! In fact, the College of Nursing website sends you to the School of Nursing website which has all the old stuff still up. But, sadly, that is all wrong, and hopefully they'll update it soon.

So for anyone still interested in this school (not me! clearly don't have their crap together.), make sure you take the correct prerequisites. They are also only taking in classes twice a year - September and January. If, like me, you're not rich and can't afford to be in school forever taking random prerequisites, look into Jersey City University or Pace in NYC, both of which have similar prerequisites to UMDNJ's.

Thank you very much for all information.

Does anyone apply before pre req is finished?? Did you get rejected or denied your application??? Could you please let me know.

Hi anyone can help me that I want to apply for ABSN program in UMDNJ hospital and i am not done with 1 pre req the A&P II which i am going to take it in Set.2013. Can i apply right now and submit the A&PII grade once I am finish the class so I can start program in January . Because I don't want to lose 4months. Please reply me ASAP.

I believe that you have to be able to submit your final grade with your application so you may not be able apply until January to start in May '14. Have you called the school?

I called the school and they told me that pre req must be complete before you apply the program. yesterday i called them and they told me that all pre req of UMDNJ is going to be changed and its going to be Rutgers pre req. Website is not updated but they are going to update soon.

There will no longer be a May entrance - only January and September. Also, see my post about prerequisite changes. This is pretty serious, and I hope everyone is informed before they start classes they don't need. The additional prerequisites include biochemistry, developmental psychology and I believe micro or macroeconomics. The site isn't up anymore, so I'm not completely sure.

i called yesterday and they told me - the new prerequisites are going to be the before prequisites plus chemistry or organic biochemistry, Nutrition, Interpersonal communication and Lifespan growth and development. It is not worth it to go to UMDNJ college (or Rutgers-school of nursing) anymore.

Hi. Applied for January 2014 and anxiously awaiting a reply. I'm in the same situation as you. Think we talked about it at orientation. Just going to stay positive. I'll let you know when I hear. Good luck!

I have applied for the ABSN at the Stratford campus for Spring 2014....I knew there were changes but I had no idea about how much really changed as far as pre-reqs. I put in my application through NursingCAS in late July!
