UMDNJ Accelerated BSN Summer 2013 - page 14
Hey everyone, is anyone in the process of applying or have already applied to UMDNJ's ABSN program for the summer of 2013? It would be great to hear what applicants thought about the application... Read More
I think you can only buy the uniforms from the place they said on the letter. Uniform Creations.
And if I'm not mistaking the total is $136 for regular sizes. For one lab coat, 2 pants and 2 shirts logo.
I was wondering the same thing about the NALC classes, I haven't heard anything about it on the letters I received so far.
Can you tell me which other hospitals they would give as an option for clinicals? and which one would you recommend?
0Mar 28, '13 by njnursingstudent1I was there on Monday and I asked about the NALC program, they told me they are still coordinating the schedule for the Newark campus and that we will receive an email soon.
For clinicals, I do not think we have much choice, they place us without our input.
I think I might just dorm for summer while I look around for a nice apartment nearby since I don't know much about the neighborhood. The three-bedroom apt is cheaper than one-bedroom. I don't mind being in a 3 bedroom for the moment.
I received an email today for Newark NALC.
The dates are as follows:
April 11th - 9:00 - 3:00
April 12th - 9:00 - 3:00
April 13th - 9:00 - 3:00
April 17th - 9:00 - 3:00
April 22nd - 10:00 - 3:00
According to the email, they are awaiting two additional date confirmations for April 15th and 16th as well.
0Mar 28, '13 by carina_gisselleI'm confused about the NALC classes. Are they mandatory or does it depend on your performance on the TEAS?
0The NALC classes are not mandatory but the TEAS exam has to be taken first if you plan to attend the NALC classes. It is highly recommended for students whose TEASE scores were below national average though.
0Mar 28, '13 by carina_gisselleOh wow that is relieving to hear because I did not know how I would be able to take off work for that. Wish I could attend. Thanks for responding!
0Thanks so much for the info....Last edit by JustBeachyNurse on Mar 29, '13 : Reason: ToS, PM to member

0Mar 29, '13 by iPink, BSN, RNBeing in the NALC program is a plus. You meet friends and get ahead of the game then the rest of the students in the program. On the first day of the start of the ABSN program, a lot of students were surprised how we all came in knowing each other and sitting together. It was a funny first day. On the flip side, just because you got into NALC doesn't mean you'll be successful in the program. Three people who was in NALC with me failed out of the program.
Good luck to the rest of you. It's a tough program but all doable.
