First of all, congratulations on making the decision to go to nursing school!
As far as getting into school... it is a jungle out there!
For what it is worth, I am an ECC grad (1982) and know many of the faculty there. The education you will get ther is fine and I say, If you can get in....GO!!
No school of nursing can stay open unless they are acredited. There are minimum standards for curriculum, passing rates at state boards, faculty/student ratios, and clinical education sites.
All schools are mandated to provide a minimum level of education and graduate nurses who, if they have made it through the program with a GPA of 2.5 or above, can have a resonable expectation of passing the state board exam.
The education anyone gets from the nursing program they choose to attend is largely dependent upon their motivation to learn, and has less to do with the nursing program itself.
If you have chosen nursing for the right reasons, (as a vocation, rather than a means of getting out of credit card trouble) most of what you need to know is already a part of you, and cannot be "installed" by any nursing program, now matter how high the tuition.
Good luck to all of you. And, no matter what, don't give up. We need you.
I welcome your comments and questions.
