Thanks.

What are salaries like for new hires at St Barnabus? New grads?
Also, are nurses unionized there?

Hello, I am also from manila (a fresh grad) and I am interested in working for one of the SBHCS hospitals. May I ask what agency you used, or if you were directly hired? I am currently processing my eligibility for nclex. I would be interested in knowing what steps you took in attaining a place at SBHCS. A friend of mine has a mom who works in the heart transplant OR, and she said that direct hiring is possible, as long as we have passed all the required exams. I hope you can shed some light on my inquiry. It would be very helpful to know what to do next. Thanks :nuke:
i work @ mmc, one sbhcs hospitals. i dont think they sponsor local hiring of foreign nurses for visas. they sponsor visas for nurses outside the US. im from manila, they sponsored my immigrant visa.

St. Barnabas has several fine hospitals but they also have a few worth avoiding just for the internal politics. Community Medical Center in Ocean County is one of them. (They did just file for a union vote, though, so things might change for the better.)

What's the whole thing with being unionized? I don't understand how that system works. I mean, how does being unionized or not being unionized affect the nurses? What's better?
