Hey All!

Hope everyone is having a fabulous 2012. I know it is early but I am curious to see if there is anyone else on the site planning on applying to the Rutgers ABSN program. I plan to start gathering my transcript requests by the end of this month so I can apply as early as possible. Some questions that went unanswered at the October Info Session:

-Does anyone know when the application opens? And where we put which school (Newark or New Brunswick) we'd prefer?

-What specific hospitals does the New Brunswick program use? And for what specialties?

And a few questions about everyone else:

-Where are you from? Which school are you applying to?

-GPA? Prereq grades?

-Anything else about yourself or why Rutgers Nursing?

I'm from Hunterdon County, I plan to apply to New Brunswick (it is closer and I'd like to see a variety of hospitals). My undergrad GPA is 3.6 in PoliSci and Criminal Justice. So far I have a 4.0 in all my prereqs (only have Chem and Devel Psych left!). I want to be a Rutgers nursing student because of the rigor, challenge and prestige of the program. I want to be a nurse because as a CNA I love my job and I want to expand the possibilities!

I feel I have pretty good odds if nobody else on the site is applying! ;)

are you still applying?

I finished up my application almost a month ago and I'm just patiently waiting for all of my required materials to get there (from three different colleges, yikes!) How about you?

I'm in the program now and will graduate in August this year. Below are answers to your questions.

-Does anyone know when the application opens? And where we put which school (Newark or New Brunswick) we'd prefer?

Students started receiving acceptance letter from end of march, 2012. They say only 10% of applicants got accepted.

In 2012, they accepted 20 students in Newark and 20 students in New Brusnwick. So 40 students in total comparing to 20 students total in 2011. Not sure about this year....

They will put you into the school which is close to your mailing address in your application.

You will need to complete all your prereqs or pass the challenged exams by end of Aug.

-What specific hospitals does the New Brunswick program use? And for what specialties?

Most clinical exercises will be in St. Peter, UMDNJ piscataway and RWJ New Brunswick.

Hope it helps. More questions? pls let me know.

Good luck!

Thank you so much, this was so so helpful! All of my required materials have finally arrived, so now its just the waiting game. I hope to get in because I don't have a backup program right now. Thanks again!

You can also apply ASBN in UMDNJ. Even Rutgers & UMDNJ are merging but they still both accept applications....
