    Hey Guys,

Curious about JCMC for Perdiem work as I heard previously the pay $50/hr weekdays and $60/hr weekends. Just wanna know how their ICU is and the basic culture of the unit/hospital/nurses. From what I have heard of some travelers who have worked there they state its ok but ghetto. I dont really know what to take from that but just wanna ask if anyone has some feedback about working their in particular their ICU/SICU/CCU. thanks

Not sure what you heard about being 'ghetto', but i would be willing to help anyone/patient in need. No disrespect, this is just my opinion.

there are issues in every region

No disrespect felt, I didnt know what to gather from that as well. I am just curious as to the culture of the unit and how things are run, the answer of Ghetto baffles me to even try to gather more info from the person who told me that!!...

    Hey there.

I'm currently a PCT in ICU and the Jersey City medical center, and I can understand why someone would use the word "ghetto". Since we are a trauma center we get alot of gun shot wounds and stabbings... and the family thats associated with those patients... at times could be described as "ghetto"

That word can also be used to describe some people that work here as well...(just my opinion)

And yes PD Nurses make $50, I;m not to sure what the difference is on the weekend rates though.

I personally like working here. I'm not a nurse yet so I can't give you my opinion from a nursing standpoint... but I have been here for a few years, and it's not so bad :-P

Hello everyone, I volunteered at JCMC in 2010 6 west. Now i graduated from nursing school just waiting to take my nclex. this process will time at least 2 months. so i am willing to get a job as a tech or PCT at the hospital. I have applied many times, called them and walked to HR and gave my resume. No luck yet. Any one working there willing to assist another human being. Thank you very much

It sounds as if they may not be interested in training someone as a new PCT that does not have a long-term commitment to that position. I am not sure what your degree is, but they have stiffened up on requiring new grads to have BSN.
