HELP!! Rivier College Admissions!!

Hi! One of the schools I am applying to for Fall 2008 is Rivier/ADN option. I made the decision a little late and even though the school has rolling admissions I am still nervous. I did well on SATs, am scheduled to take the NLN March 1st (have been studying away for past two months) and have completed HS pre req's as well as Intro to Pysch, Intro to Soc, Nutrition 400, First Year Writing, Finite Math, College Algebra and a few electives while in my first year at UNH. I called the office at RC today and they said that once I get all of my stuff in it's about a two month wait on the list. I'm really new to the whole wait list concept so could anyone help me out? What does a two month wait mean, how good of a chance is it that I will get in the program for Fall 2008?

Hi, I applied in March 2006 for a spot in Riv's nursing program (ADN) and didn't get accepted into the program until 9/07 so it took me 1 1/2 yrs. I was also put on the 'waiting list' initially in March but that does not mean you will get in. I think that the 2 mo. wait that they are talking about is whether any other students change their minds about coming to the college. They will fill spots off the wait list with people who have already been accepted into the program, but for whatever reason, do not accept the spot for the fall. Perhaps you will have better luck, but there were no people at all who didn't follow through with their admissions when I was on the waiting list. You can ask what position on the wait list you are. If you are at the very top, you may luck out and get a spot for the fall. Otherwise, you could get in for spring '09, depending upon whether there will be classes for you to take. They have rolling admissions with no deadline. They generally take first come, first served if I understand correctly. I applied for their program and was accepted within a month but I can't exactly remember when I got my packet to them. I think I was number 10 on the waitlist and I still made it rather q$uickly. Oh I think it was late April when I applied- very late and still made it.

Admissions or the nursing program should be able to tell if there are slots still open and if so, how many. They really try hard to get through the waitlist as well.

I ultimately did not attend there, but may in the future to get the BSN.

ALL my interactions with their staff and faculty have been very positive over the last two years (I deferred admission then withdrew completely and stayed at the tech i was already attending).

Kukukajoo- thank you so much.. very helpful. I'm just so confused because I talked to the admissions and they said that the wait list was not expected to move and that I should apply to the BSN instead- did you apply a few years ago or just last year? I'm just wondering how much of a difference there could be through the years regarding the ADN. This is so stressful! Thanks!

I think either option you choose you would have your ADN and RN licensure in three years. I know to do year 4 of the BSN you actually graduate the year prior with ADN and sit for boards....

So you could always do that option and at that juncture then decide wether to continue on or not.

Are you applying for the evening or day admissions? I applied for the evening admissions recently and I am near the top of the wait list, so maybe evening admissions is easier to get into.

I also applied to NHCTC-Manchester, and I am still waiting to hear if I made it or not.
