CSN RN Spring 2013

U.S.A. Nevada

Published

Hello everyone, I'm new to the site and I was wondering if there are any fellow CSN RN Spring '13 hopefuls out there. I just turned in my application today and I would love to get to know some of my potential classmates through this forum :)

Good luck to you all! I almost went csn for nursing but life happened and then we moved to Colorado. It's a good school though, I took lots of pre reqs there. Hang in there. The wait is tough, but oh so worth it! I'm halfway through first semester here at CMU and its a blast! Learning about nursing is amazing.

The wait is so tough! Reading through prior posts it looks they call on Wednesdays... I doubt we will get a call tomorrow, but I probably won't be far from the phone. We are coming into the home stretch.

Christina,

you should be fine with that!

Hi everyone,

I started getting nervous about not hearing from the school so i started looking around for forums and happened upon this one. Thank you so much for starting it and all the information posted on it. I applied with 29 points so it sounds like i should be good but i will drive myself crazy until i get the call. However i wont be as crazy since i know there was such a low number of applicants. I really hope they start making those calls soon. I also hope they dont alter the number of students allowed in. As long as the applicants pre-reqs are completed i dont think it would be fair decide to allow less students into the program but that is just my opinion.

For anyone who is already in the program i was wondering about the immunizations. When do we have to have them all completed by? Is it the first day of class or do we have some extra time?

Nothing is for certain and therefore, you have a good reason to be anxious. I mean this for all students and not just you. :) But the great thing is that there is only a few more weeks before they start calling the students. Keep your fingers crossed. :) Oh the shots, you will be having a new student orientation and then they tell you all that you need. The chances are that you have already had your shots if you went to school in the US, so you gotta track down your shot records. Some shots are 3 series of shots spread out throughout a 6 month period so they just want to see that you started those. You will have to sign up for CPR. This process takes a while. When I did it the first time, I applied for fall so I had all summer to do everything. I think timing will be more important this time since we find out and there is only 2.5 months in between and lots of holidays with it. Good luck!! :geek:

I had blood titers done showing my immunity to everything including Hep B...do you think that will suffice? Hopefully all I will need to get is the 2 step TB. I had my TdaP done this year so I'm ok with that...ahhhh I'm so anxious!!! Last year the Spring '12 class found out Oct 19 so I'm hoping we might get lucky and hear that soon too! I don't think I can handle the stress of not knowing any longer!

That is what I had done the first time I got in. That is exactly what you will need. :)

Specializes in going to be NICU.

I was told by the limited entry office that October 10th is the last day for late entries for the Spring 2013 term. They extended it because of the low amount of applicants for this term.

For those whose health plan does not cover immunizations past 18 years old, The Health District is cheaper than Walgreen's. about a third cheaper.

I wonder how they got the word out on that? There is nothing that I can see (I may be overlooking it) on the website about extensions. The advisement sheet still lists September 1st as the deadline. The new deadline could significantly increase the amount of applicants. People could have been taking the TEAS for an additional 6 weeks after the initial deadline and still be eligible to apply for the program. Thanks for the update!

I couldn't help myself... so I called the LE office. They are continuing to accept applications through today. However, she said they will still be making acceptance calls by the end of the month.

Now I'm even more anxious! Did they give any indication of how many more apps they took in? Part of me is thinking that since they never said anything on the website that there won't be many more people but I'm still going a little more nuts! Ahhhh this sucks!!

No, she didn't mention it and I didn't ask. If we don't hear anything through posting or calls I will give them a call on Friday and report back. I looked all over for some type of announcement about an extension and I didn't find anything so how would anyone even know you could submit late??? I can't imagine they were flooded with that many more, but you never know. I did specifically ask if the acceptance calls will go out by the end of the month and she said, yes. This has definately taken an unexpected turn.

That really bites! I was not getting my hopes up but was secretly hoping to get a call earlier than the end of the month. Yikes! :(
