Published

ievI am currently working in a dental office in Nebraska. Any ideas of what nursing duties will qualify for nursing hours????? If anyone out there has any ideas PLEASE. I am desparate for answers... I am hopin I don't have to find a different job....Not @ my age

******currently I triage patient calls, assist sporadically in denatl procedures. Do patient follow-up, & patient teaching. Call perscriptions into pharmacy, and document in patient files. Asking if these duties can be reported for liscensure in 2007??? I work 40 hrs/week. I know we have to have 200 floor hrs & 20 ceu's. Just wondering if my day to day job will fill these requirements for renewal?.....

Thank you all for replying.....it is very much appreciated....

Can you contact the BON for clarification. Perhaps if you faxed them a copy of your job description along with a statement from your employer as to how many hours per week you spend carrying out "nursing duties".

I would think that assessing patients, telephone triage, preparing for and assisting with procedures, patient teaching, follow-up phone calls, etc. could be considered as nursing functions. Good luck!

Not quite sure what you are asking for? Nursing hours vs non-nursing hours?

Could you be much more specific as to what you are looking for?

suzanne4,

NE and other compact states require a minimum number of hours of nursing practice in order to renew one's license. I believe it is 500 hours in the past 5 years. Since the OP is working in a dental office, I assume she is asking how to find out whether her current practice meets those requirements.
