I took boards on Wed morning, 75 q, priority, teaching, infection control, select all that apply. Found out yesterday morning at 0845 that I passed.
Did Kaplan. was very well worth it and no cost to me since my job paid for it. It was just like having a Q trainer 8. If you can take it, it would behoove you to take.
This website has been awesome. I mostly read about persons who passed and failed. It taught me what to do and not to do when studying and when taking the test. So paid close attention to the notes of persons who have already taken it. Because of what I read in the past 5-6 months from test takers, I kind of knew what to expect. The tips that really got me over
are
First of all Pray to your Heavenly Father to send the NCLEX angel (the Bible say to be specific in your prayers, so I was. When I passed the HESI the first time around, I prayed for the HESI angel. You have not because you ask not, right !!!!) (knew this for myself)
1. Take Kaplan if you can
2. Don't worry about the number of questions, put your id over the number so you can focus on the question ( I got that from a previous test taker.)
3. Be confident but if you have any doubt, check it, you may have to reschedule
4. Make sure you know infection control, this websit was great. I read it 2 weeks before the exam and it helped me to answer infection control (from previous test taker who passed)
5. You have to know the symptoms. The test is not going to tell you that the person is for example hypoglycemic, having a seizure, or has fluid volume deficit. You have to be able to know the signs and then know what the priority action or assessment.
6. Take your time and don't be afraid to think. You have 6 hours. If you have to visualize that patient in the bed with the symptoms, do it. This is what I did. Read the question 2 times before going to the answer choices. Eliminate ones you know can't be right.
7. Know where you are in the Nursing Process, apply Maslow, apply ABCs
Those are just some few pointers I got from Kaplan and this website. There are many more. Read what people did to pass. Good Luck to everyone. This is a doable test.
Oh for those who passed HESI, you can pass NCLEX
