I passed NCLEX with 265 questions!!!

Hi future nurses:

I promised myself that if I passed the NCLEX I was going to leave my post. First of all my apologies if I make mistakes in this writing as English is not my first language.

I took the NCLEX RN for the second time on 12/16/15, I went confident this time because I took the time to prepare. I used Kaplan books for content review and thenI used Kaplan Qbank for two months. I didn't have the money to pay for the entire course

The day of the exam I was nervous but not to the point of been shaking or feeling my heart racing, the first 10 questions seemed very easy and I felt that I saw the same questions in Kaplan, I started to get anxious when I noticed that I was reaching question number 100 and I kept going, my anxiety got even worse when I reached question 220 and the computer kept throwing me questions and guess what: I took all the 265 questions in 5 hours...

I noticed that I got the same question in a different wording more than once, I even told myself "I already answer this question" anyways I got a good amount of SATA, lots of priorization and 2 exhibits.

When I left the center I felt horrible, defeated and with the feeling that I failed the test AGAIN. I went to the bathroom to cry.

I didn't want to the the PVT because I was scared to confirm my defeat. On friday I started to check with the BON website to see if my name showed up and nothing, I was going crazy. Finally today I confirmed that I PASSED!!! I'm officially a RN :D

The last message I want to give to all of you is that you can do it, guys this was my second attempt AFTER 10 YEARS!!! working full time and having a son. The first time I took the NCLEX was in september of 2005 and I have to admit it, I'd understimate the test. As many of you, I pannicked when I reached question 265 because by then I thought for sure that I failed, but hey I passed, so please don't get discouraged if you reach this number.:cat:

Somehow you boost my confidence :D If ever I will be taking my first NCLEX, I will be 5 years out of Nursing practice and I have an active toddler, so I was thinking that reviewing for Nclex will not be an easy task for me (probably I'll do a 6-month review) because I need to take care of my family. Congratulations to your success!! ;)

Thank you babymich_0922!! yes, take your time to prepare in order to take the NCLEX, at first is a little hard to get used but in time you'll be amazed of all what you have learned

how did u prepare the med? like memorize one by one or just the side eff and intervention of a whole class..and how did u remember their names..i am also a international edu nurse..generics drive me crazy...

Which state are going to apply. Currently I m facing problem with Texas bard since I graduate 6 years ago. Even though I m willing to take refresher course the denied my application.

I have 13 months toddler and working full time. I just want to challenge NCLEX after 6 years but I have a problem with Texas board nursing since I graduate 6 years ago. Even though I m willing to take refresher course the denied my application. which state of did you applied and get accepted ?

I studied medication along with the pathology, for example Heart failure and the medications used for treatment of that pathology (Digoxin and furosemide), making flash cards is also helpful writing the generic and commercial names and side effects

I applied with California Board of Nursing which for me was a easy state, the only problem with them is that they are really slow. Give them a try!! ;)
