How to study SMART && not hard?!

Hello everyone,Im a first semester nursing student (ADN) and I'm new to AllNurses.I've been reading through alot of forums trying to find out how some ppl study for their test. I've notice that alot of people said "study smart and not hard." Well my question is this: what EXACTLY does that mean??? So far I've been studying about 5hrs\day with frequent breaks in between and I still seem to FAIL my tests (I've had 2 so far 3 left plus a final) soooo I need some advice on how to study "smart" b\c I'm obvously NOT doing it. Any advice would be great?! Thanks in advanced......

I'm not sure what study smart means but I do know that first semester in nursing school is a huge adjustment! They start you off asking application questions and you are not used to that. I would recommend getting the Kaplan 2012-2013 NCLEX prep book. It teaches you "how" to approach the questions and the decision making that you should go through. You could also hire a tutor for something like that. Good luck. Let me know if I can help you in any other way. I am a tutor in nursing and for the NCLEX.
