Hawaii Failure

Updated Jul 28, 2007 at 03:08 AM by sugarlipz

Hi guys! I'm a NEWBIE here! Please help..i need your suggestions! I recently failed the NCLEX exam. I'm still devastated..I self-reviewed for about 3 1/2 months before the exam date which was July 11th! I read the Saunders book page to page & did exams on the computer as well. As much as i wanted to attend a live review course, I couldnt. Unfortunately, there are no review centers here in Hawaii. I am planning on going to California to attend review classes & maybe take my exam there too. What is the best review center in California? Some of my friends who also took the NCLEX here failed 2-3 times before they passed. I dont know what's going on but I sure dont want to take the NCLEX here again! I'm scared that if i take it, I might fail..again! Please help....thank you in advance!

you will pass the next time!, i took my nclex @ hongkong stopped @75 and i passed. i combined Kaplan and Saunders comprehensive cd which i only bought in front of PRC.. lol.

Kaplan books will teach you what type of question you will see in the real exam, and that is, passing type of question which is analysis type. then in Saunders most of their questions are analysis type so you will be trained to answer analysis type. And you want the computer to stay in analysis type of question, which means you are in a passing level. Also when you take a review you will have an idea, you dont need memorize too many data that are simply recall and recognition, because these are failing questions and you dont want that to appear in the computer.

when you are in the exam, try to feel the questions, if you are sensing that the questions are not analysis type.. oh.. oh.. extra effort in answering because you are not in the right path

hope this helps

wow sarap naman nang location mo Hawaii...anyways sorry to hear that you din't pass the ncelx...i just recently passed the nclex july 10..I used
1. Kaplan trainer Cd (7 test), read the kaplan book twice
2. used the priority delegation and assignment from mosby
3. used saunders Q&A through out school year did not really used it to prepare for nclex i already answered most of it during school year.

priority book link
http://www.us.elsevierhealth.com/pro...=9780323044073

sa akin i think nakatulong yong kaplan trainer cd, and priority book..also took martin review i think it was a waste of money for me, i only took it because most of my friends are taking it, they covered nursing content which i think i know enough since i just recently graduated. If you know your content well, just register for kaplan Q&A online i think the website is www.kaplannursing.com , to me the nclex was similar to kaplan question the way they ask priority question. so i was not surprise when i was taking the nclex. pass with 75 question. anyways goodluck and prepare really good for the second nclex, anyone can pass it. just do a lot of Q&A, i think reading will not help, for me because i'll forget the information in a week or 2. but when your doing q&a it help me retain more information espicially when i get the question wrong. pag may tanong kapa nasa friendster din ako email mo lang ako don....

friendster... username ko dito plus @yahoo.com

Don't feel to bad...you're not alone. I'm a Hawaii failure too. Going for my 3rd try. I'm scared too. My first failure brought me to this site. Lots of good tips and support.
Testing 9/18, which is just right around the corner.
Good luck to you

I'm located on the Big Island...
You may want to check with UH/HCC, they maybe offering live reviews.
One of the nursing instructors at the Hilo campus had offered a class last
summer, which I missed. Not sure if she did it this year. I'm a full time LPN so it's hard for me to do live reviews. I graduated LPN-BSN with Phoenix and they offered free Kaplan review on line. The time went by so fast that I did not explore it enough. Basically I wasted it.
Good luck to you.
