For those of you who passed the NCLEX...Game plan for the NCLEX?

I've got about a month to study for the NCLEX. I have purchased Saunder's Comprehensive Review and have already read about 125 pages from the OB section (this is a weaker area of mine). I've done about 200 questions via NCLEX 4000 and Saunders Comp. Review book. But I'm feeling overwhelmed. I feel like I have so much to review and not sure where to begin.

Everyone says to do at least 100 questions a day, but I only have so many questions available to me through the NCLEX 4000 software and my Saunders book. Does that mean you repeat the same questions on the same topics over that month's time of studying? It would seem inevitable that I end up repeating the same questions.

Also, I feel like I should read Saunders book as well (the entire thing) before taking the test. I feel like this would remind of all the details that taking test questions alone cannot do. Is this a waste of time to read this large, comprehensive book as well as doing test questions?

Just feeling like I need some more direction and a more detailed game plan that just reading Saunders book cover to cover and taking 150 questions/day (from largely NCLEX 4000).

Any thoughts? Should I buy more books/software filled with NCLEX style questions? I cannot afford a review class. I would love to hear from those who took the NCLEX and passed it. I'd love to hear about what you did to prepare. Thanks.

Questions questions questions. Best way to study for the nclex. When I passed nursing school we had a mandatory review through Kaplan. The instructor told us to do about 150 questions a day. And even try to take some practice exams that were 300 questions in case you have to sit for the whole exam.

Don't worry about repeating the questions on the disk. I probably went through every question on nclex 4000 twice. The extra review won't hurt.. I don't think you need to review the book. I think you'll be fine with questions. That's how I studied and I passes on my first try. Just know your basic lab values.

I used NCLEX 4000. Started on my weakest topics...cardio, endo, maternity, pedia. Answered questions before and after reading mary ann hogan book on same system. It helped me tremendously!Passed on 2nd try. Good luck to you!

I think the key in NCLEX is about knowing content and test taking strategies.

I did self-assessment (strengths and weaknesses on nursing topics) then i dissect it and follow my plans religiously. And about repeating questions? it is okay. in fact, i answered PDA book twice (prioritization,delegation and assignment) and i even read saunders twice, that's how bad i wanted to pass nclex. (but for the second reading, i just read the one i highlighted from my first reading).

I suggest you make a plan like doing Nursing Care Plan, it should be S_M_A_R_T..and follow it.

I know every individual is unique and has its own different way of learning, i can say that do what works for you and be determined. I know you can do this! GODbless!
