First of all, you need to get your Candidate Performance Report. That will give you a good clue to the areas you were lacking at the time you attempted the NCLEX. Second, you need to stop worrying and stressing out over an exam you cannot change the results of (previous attempt). You have passed nursing school, therefore you've been exposed to the information that will generally be on the exam. You've already seen it once, so the next time you see it, there'll be no surprises.

You possibly are overstudying and studying the wrong things. The fact that you failed at a number >75 means that you were close to the pass/fail line somewhere, so you're likely not that far from passing. That means your content knowledge is probably sufficient to pass. You may also be overthinking the exam questions. There are no trick questions and no "gotcha" questions. It's very straightforward. I have multiple other posts on this, as do several other posters on this forum. Basically what I suggest is reading the question, answering it in your mind first, then reading the answers, then re-reading the question to make sure you didn't misread the question (I've done that... a lot) and then answer the question with the most correct answer. Any part of the answer that isn't correct makes that answer an incorrect choice. Do NOT change the answer unless you have a VERY compelling reason to do so because your first choice is likely to be right. Click submit and move on.

Personally I used NCLEX 4000 and a Saunders 6E program (I think) to do some review, but mostly I used those resources for "how" to take the exam and make sure I didn't misread the questions.

Hi Sue. Sorry to hear about your situation. Something to take into consideration is how you used the study materials. Did you follow the exact Kaplan and Hurst plans? I used both these resources as well and didn't exactly do what each program recommended which is probably why I ended up getting 225 qs on my exam. For future reference though, Kaplan qs are recommended to be around 50-60 range. Also, how are you remediating the qs? I started off in the 40-50 range with Kaplan and ended up in the 60-70 range. I think it had a lot to do with my remediating 3-4hours for each 75q I did and using Hurst as a resource for content. But good luck on your second try, you passed nursing school and you have what it takes! You will soon become an RN!

Thank you for your responses. I got really down about my fail that i took a break. Im back on it now. I cant sit and mope around about the fail so im doing other things to prepare myself. . I started doing Kaplan exams again and reviewing with Hurst. I am currently averaging between 45-60 in the qbanks so idk if that is good or not. I am remediating all of it. I got a 60 percent on one of the hurst exams . Im scheduled to retest on the 19th but im debating if to reschedule. If you have any advise let me know. Again thanks for taking the time and replying :)
