Failed in 75 Q's

Nursing Students NCLEX

My heart shattered when I found out I failed. You can guarantee I went through the all the stages of grieving that day. Failing the NCLEX took a huge hit on my self esteem, and I felt like a complete failure. It didn't help at all seeing all my classmates post their licenses. But soon enough, I began to pick up my Saunders book and started to study again.

My first time studying, I went through all the Kaplan trainers, review course, and the whole qbank (58% average). Most subjects on my CPR were near passing, with one subject above passing. I feel that I could have done a better job with content review, decreasing my anxiety, and figuring out what questions were really asking on the NCLEX.

I'm halfway through Saunders right now, and I plan on doing 5 weeks of Uworld (which I hear amazing things about), and then NCBSN, either 3, 5, or 8 week plan, depending when I get my ATT. I also talked to Kaplan, and they plan on giving me a whole new review course. My question is, when should I do Kaplan? Should I do it after I finish Saunders, so I can complete Kaplan & Uworld at the same time? Or should I wait to do Kaplan after I finish Uworld, so I can do Kaplan and NCBSN until my next NCLEX date?

I also picked up the lacharity book that people have been talking about, and doing a chapter a day. I'd love some advice from people who have used Uworld, NCBSN, or Kaplan, or any advice at all! I'd really appreciate it :)

Do your research for finding the right qbank to use. I only used UWORLD and la charity and I passed with 75 questions. Read the rationales thoroughly to get a better understanding. Don't worry about what your classmates post about their success you need to focus on yourself and try to make it through the Nclex again. I was told by my nursing tutor that do not overload yourself with many qbanks stick with one or two and one theory I used the 35 page Nclex review the one that's floating in allnurses. That's all I can contribute. Best of your success

Thank you so much! I've heard excellent things about Uworld. How would you compare the level of question difficulty to the NCLEX? And it has about 1700 questions, is that correct? And congrats on passing!!

I did Kaplan grades ranges from 49-73... Steady improvement with my last test bank grade being 59 (2 days before nclex, I was over it).. I did all and wrote down everything i got wrong and the content. After doing sets of 75 new I'd go bank and do 35/40 I got incorrect. So I'd be doing roughly 110 Kaplan questions a day. I also did LWW nclexrn 10,000 questions and reached an average 5.02 mastery level in nclex content areas. For content, Saunders. It's comprehensive and the best in my opinion.

Stay positive and never give up. Every failure makes for a bigger triumph.
