Board of Nursing says license needs additional information

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

So, I graduate from nursing school next week and I'm starting to get anxious about the NCLEX. I have a job waiting for me that I start in July, so I would like to take the NCLEX as soon as possible after graduation. I'd like to make sure that they have everything that they need so that I can get my ATT soon after graduation.

My problem is, I can't seem to figure out where to look so see a detailed status of my application.

I've tried my states board of nursing, but all it shows me is that my application is in review because it needs additional information. I understand that I haven't graduated yet so they do not have my transcript from my school, but I would like to know if there is any other additional information that they need.

My main concern is that they did not receive my background check, which I had done over a month ago. I never got any confirmation that they received this, so I'm a little worried.

Is there a way to check to see what additional information they need?

You won't know the status of your application until you receive notice that you are authorized to test. That is the norm, it is NOT the norm to receive status updates. There's enough work for them to do as it is! After your transcripts are received and reviewed, after your other application information is reviewed and approved, then you will hear from them.

Every student is anxious and everyone wants to know RIGHT NOW the status of their application. It's a waste of time for people at the BON to do this, though, as at this moment you haven't graduated from school. Things happen.

Keep in touch with classmates, find out when they get their ATTs. Some BONs are quick, some slow. California is notorious for wait times in getting the ATTs.

Good luck, breathe :)

Thanks so much for the reassurance! I definitely need it right now lol. I know I'm probably just overthinking all of this. I'm thinking if I still don't have my ATT 2-3 weeks after graduation, I'll contact them then.

You're welcome. I remember being a complete stress puppy in the weeks nearing graduation, you're not alone in that feeling :)

When your classmates start to hear back from the BON, start paying attention. I don't know what your state BON is like but it's been known to take anywhere from weeks to months. In California it's somewhere around 10-12 weeks, and as much as another 2-4 after the exam to get results depending on the time of year.

If you're lucky yours is faster! :)
