VA hospital st.louis

U.S.A. Missouri

Anyone here working at at the VA in st.louis? There are several postings just curious and thinking of leaving barne-toxic environment, **** poor management etc. I've heard nightmares about other VA hospitals, just wanting to know what it is like?

I am still going to school, so i haven't actually worked as a nurse at the VA, but my brother was in it as a patient three years ago. I can tell you from our personal experience there that it is a very poorly run hospital in general, and my conversations with the nurses on his floor indicated that they all hated their jobs. I've been in a lot of hospitals as my father is a surgeon, so I promise that I'm not just saying this as a reaction to our own personal experience at the VA. My father was a dean of another VA hospital elsewhere in the US and he was never satisfied with the care and functioning of that VA. I can safely say that our family found the St. Louis one to be far worse.

I interviewed for a position on the telemetry floor at John Cochran. They can have up 8pts without techs, that's including post-cath pt's w/a sheath. Needless to say, I turned that job down. The benefits are good, but not good enough to risk my license. If you're not working in their ICU, I would pass. Good luck to you.
