SW MO LPN Pay...

...what is it? Currently considering a big career change to LPN and eventually RN. What's the average pay around the Springfield area for those fresh out of school?

Salary for LPN is SW MO? you would be better off working at a fast food joint...the pay sucks....considering leaving the area because of the extremely low wages here!

Can you tell me how low is low? I was thinking about moving back their. I lived in that area back in 85\91. I have family their. Just curious. I remember working as a cna and being treated like the lowest life form on earth. I couldn't beleive the attitude. When I moved to WI I learned that cnas and nurses were treated with respect. This was my personal exp. I worked on Fremont AVe at americana fremont nsg home and a place in Ozark. Let me know If things are the same for nsg. Thank you.....:)

Well, I've been an LPN for over 20 years and have been actively employed this whole time as well. Then I moved here to SW MO. and was offered under 11 an hour. That is for clinic work. Now, for Hospital & LTC, depending on how long you've been an LPN and if you are IV certified or not, what specialty you do and what shift you do...such as IV certified, ICU care on night shift, you MIGHT make 14-15 an hour. If you do agency work, some of them offer more per hour but with limited bennies & irregular schedules. Also be careful what payscale you are told if you talk to a human resource person over the phone, I was told I would make top wages for this area because of the years of experience, then when I got here and went to interviews, I was told something a whole lot different....the bennies offered by the local facilities are 80/20 and no "perks" off of health care costs for being an employee.

Oh yeah, and the housing cost in the area? If you want to live in a fairly decent neighborhood......your looking at at least $80,000 and up and even then, your not living in primo.....that will cost you $150,000 and up.

from what i can tell base is between 12-13 bucks an hour plus shift diffs. if you can get a job in the hospital, that is. also, you might not be able to find a job where you'll teamlead. most of our LPN's in this area work as glorified techs in the hospitals. they teamlead in SNF, Rehab, long term care, etc. there's a lot of home health jobs as well.
