Are any of the hospitals in the Kansas City area hiring new grad ADNs?

As far as I know the only hospitals hiring ADN's are Shawnee Mission, Liberty, North Kansas City, and Olathe Med.

Specializes in PDN; Burn; Phone triage.

Doesn't St Lukes still hire ADNs?

Have you tried the HCA hospitals? Research, Centerpoint, Lee's Summit? I think they may still hire ADN's, I'm not sure.

All HCA hospitals hire ADN's, St. Lukes does as well. The only one's I know that will not hire ADN's any longer are Truman and KU. The Carondelet's will hire ADN's if they think you are a good fit but will pick a BSN before an ADN 9 out of 10 times, if you worked for them before you graduated they will hire you if you were a good employee (also keep in mind that they were just bought by HCA, so that will likely change as well). Children's Mercy will hire ADN's but they have recently started to prefer BSN's as well. Good Luck!

Starting in 2015 most hospitals will not hire ADN's. If you get hired before that they will "grandfather" you in but you will probably have to sign a contract to get your BSN in a certain amount of time. I am a PCA at St. Mary's (currently Carondelet, soon to be HCA) and a PCT at Research Medical Center (HCA). I am a student at Penn Valley (ADN program) so I am hoping I can get on at one or the other...I graduate December of 2014 so I will be cutting it close. St. Mary's already has Magnet Status and RMC is trying to attain it. With Magnet Status a certain percent of the nurses have to have BSN's or be working toward their BSN. I'm not sure about the other hospitals in the area. Good luck to you!
