I was accepted into the online ASN program at deaconess for the summer06 term but I switched over to the BSN program starting next semester. I am passing the online class but it is crazy. I was just wondering if there was any Chamberlain BSN students out there that can give me there thoughts about the BSN program before I actually start or if there is anyone who is starting this fall at Chamberlain maybe we could get to know each other and see if we are taking the same classes.

Thanks

Angie

Hi,

I'm still doing prereqs with plans to probably do the Barnes Jewish Advanced BSN program when I am finished, so I can't help with your questions, but am curious as to what you think of the program you're in now. Why you're switching? My sister went to Deaconess about 15 years ago and it was a great program then, but it's seems to have gone down hill since. It seems kind of strange to me to have all online classes for something as important as nursing, but don't know anybody who has tried it, so maybe it works.

Just wondering...

Thanks!

I heard that Deaconess sisters are no longer overseeing the program as they once did in the past.Deaconess was sold to devry University as of this summer.I'm sure that there are going to be alot of bumps with starting the program. I heard barnes had an excellent program.

I am switching over because I need more. The online portion is nuts. They give us like 5 chapters every other week and you have to read every chapter and then take a test over those chapters every other week. No lectures just chat room to discuss the chapters once a week and then we have skills lab 2 times a week. I personally think that it is way to much information for someone to learn on their own. It is very important and I am learning but like I said I need to be in a classroom so I can better understand everything. If anyone is reading this and you are thinking about going into the online program at chamberlain make sure this is what you want to do and it is definetly independent study. They say they will help you but good luck with that.

WOW! That seems like it would be really tough to do. I've taken some telecourses in the past, but I can't imagine doing all of that for nursing. Thanks for answering and good luck to you with the new program!
