That's a really big, really involved question. I don't know if I could answer it in one setting. You get every kind of patient other than L&D. You do occasionally get pregnant patients however. You have to be able to care for patients of all types. Young, old, medical, telemetry, surgical, orthopedic, respiratory, elderly, kidney failure, diabetics, burns.....everything!! The experience is awesome. As an RN you have to be a med nurse, a wound care nurse, an IV nurse, a maid, a waitress, a therapist, case manager, patient advocate, housekeeper, maintenence person, you have to be it all. The experience is invaluable, the work very intense, you will be tired, you will spent alot of time with a full bladder and no time to go, you either hate it or love it! Only the strong survive.
