- Dec 5, '02 by RNCCRN9706New grads and nurses to ICU get 12 weeks at my hospital plus an eight week Critical Care Course and a 5 week Trauma course cause we are a Trauma unit. Since I came to my current ICU with 3 months experience, I was given a 9 week orientation. But I ask questions all the time. The only dumb question is the one that isn't asked.

- Feb 6, '03 by Little One2With regards to self study critical care nursing, I think it would be a very bad mistake to enter this kind of nursing by self study. There is a lot to learn. There is a lot of complex information which should be taught by a facilitator. And it is going to have a clinical rotation to have hands experience while getting guidance from a nurse.
