Lpn To Rn Online In Michigan...

  1. 0
    Hi Everyone...
Has anyone enrolled in or researched the LPN TO RN ONLINE program through Monroe Co. Community College? (it is also offered through Kirtland CC and Kalamazoo Valley CC). I have been searching for a program that is offered mainly online and found this one. I know that OCC and St. Clair CC offer transitional LPN TO RN programs that are classroom based and this is the only one that I found that is mainly online (except for clinicals). Thinking about moving forward with this...just wondering if anyone out there has heard of it or done it. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!:redpinkhe

I am also considering doing the online transition from LPN-Rn online. I am graduating this august with my LPN and plan on starting right away. I have been doing my research and came across excelsior college. They have it online. You might want to look into it. When all said and done I will only need like 6 classes.
I'm probably going to go through a publishing company associated with the college, I have already spoke with them and just trying to make the decision on whether or not to do it.

The website is www.istudysmart.com the guy who you will speak to is Gary minis. He was very helpful
    Good luck.

Hi Carebear77, Thanks for the info. I looked into Excelsior College and decided not to go with them b/c they are not recognized in a few states (CA and MD). If I knew for sure that I would never leave MI, I would probably go ahead and pursue my degree with them but w/ family in VA and CA, I just don't know if we will ever move to one of those states and I would hate to be limited as to where I can practice as a RN. A ton of people have gone through them and had good experiences though. Good luck in your transition!

I am almost done with the LPN program at Kirtland and asked an instructor about the online RN program. I was told that it is very hard and the failure rate was higher than if you took the regular program. My instructor did not recommend it. I also heard from a friend that knows someone who is doing the online program, that you go to a testing center about once a month to take your tests -- but I dont know how true this is.... And apparently this girl is having a hard time handling a months worth of testing content and she is failing. I really liked the idea of the online program but was intimidated out of it because the regular program is so hard as it is...

Thanks for the info, I really have been thinking about the online program, but I think I might pass on it and go to OCC. I'm planning on talking to OCC soon and get all the info I need.

Have you guys heard about the College Network? Is it legitimate? I think you can get the RN credential mostly, if not all, online

    Thanks,

College Network is strictly a publishing company. They also go through Excelsior and Rue and another school I think.

The College Network is fully ligit. I am taking my prereqs through them. They are affiliated with Indiana State University in which the program is LPN-BSN. They also have affiliations with other schools in which you can obtain your ASN.

The College Network essentially sells books, they do not do the actual training. That is why you are going to another school for the actual classwork, etc.

The Excelsior program is not accepted in about 8 states at present, not just the two that are mentioned above.

Since this thread is specific to Michigan, will move it to that forum so you can get more input with your questions.

    Best of luck to you.

Thanks for the response re The College Network Coastie Wife and others; I think I may at least speak to someone about Indiana State University and what courses I will be required to take. I want to take the courses online but I wonder how one does the clinical portion of the LPN-BSN degree.
    Any information is appreciated.
