HFCC Nursing Program pre and co-reqs

U.S.A. Michigan

Hi all,

Im looking into applying for the nursing program at HFCC, I'm kind of confused as to what the required pre and co reqs are. When looking at the application there are only about 5 pre and 2 co classes listed, but then looking at the pre-nursing page there are a WHOLE bunch more. Do ALL the classes listed in the pre-nursing have to be completed before applying? Im transferring over from another community college with an associates degree already and originally thought that I had most of the classes completed and would be able to apply, now thinking that might not be the case....I plan on going and talking to an advisor, I would just like to have some information before applying online and sending transcripts. Thank you.

I finished my associate (liberal arts) from HFCC last summer, then transferred to Davenport after being accepted into their LPN program. So I am looking to go back to HFCC (or Schoolcraft or OCC, whomever accepts me first)for their LPN-RN next year Fall 2016 (after completing 1500 hours as an LPN).

For HFCC, I believe you (with an associates degree) would only have to make sure your A&P I & II (BIO 233 & 234) comes over as equivalent, PSY 131 (Intro), PSY 253 (Life Span), SOC 131 (Intro), and of course ENG 131 & 132.

I'm not sure about AH 120 and CHEM 131.

Please post after you attend a meeting with an advisor, I'd like to know what you found out.

Hi, and thanks for the response. So come to find out they changed the curriculum this semester and that's why things were so hard to understand. You no longer need chem to apply. You now need as of winter 2016, so this application, math 110 and a computer health class HCS 131 in addition to the others that were needed prior.

That's kinda awesome for me, as chem is not my strong suit. I got an A- in my first A&P at Davenport, and am understanding A&P II well. But Chem! That's another story.

I feel the same. HATED chem.

Hello ,

Is PSY 253 REQUIRED to take for the HFCC PROGRAM ( PREREG).

IS PSY 253 REQUIRED for the HFCC PROGRAM ? i checked the blog of the pr nursing page and PSY 253 is not on there .

hello, congratulations to all who got accepted into hfcc nursing program !!!!! I will be attending hfcc in winter of 2017. My goal is to complete the required prerequisites and apply to the nursing program, so I can start the nursing program in winter 2018. I do have a couple of questions and hope that someone can give me answers to them. Question 1: how soon should I start studying for the NAT test ? Question 2: If I plan on applying to the nursing program in June for the winter semester how soon should I be receiving my immunizations, TB test, titers etc.? Question 3: Should I take a cna class prior to admissions for a better chance of acceptance or will they take my expired cna certificate (it just expired this year)? Question 4: If I take my last set of prereqs in the spring semester will they count those classes as completed seeing how the deadline is June 30th for winter admission and spring semester ends on June 26? I need help, I'm so anxious to get the ball rolling lol !
