I went to the meeting Friday and they discussed ordering the uniforms. I went back through the notes and saw they required 2 polos , 2 pants, one long lab coat and a jacket long or short sleeved.

Do we need to order any scrubs? Or do we wear the polos to clinicals?

Will there be a tryon room for the pants that day?

Also, would you recommend the long or short sleeved jacket? I'm not sure the purposed of this jacket.

Thanks for tolerating all my questions :nuke:

Polos not scrub tops.

You are required to wear the HFCC uniforms that you order the day of your orientation so bring your checkbook. Unless you work in a clinical setting, DO NOT buy any other scrubs. If you show up to clinical in anything other than your HFCC scrubs (polo, pants, jacket), you will be sent home and have an incomplete for the day.

I would order the long sleve jacket - it can get chilly in the hospital.

You do not need to buy any other scrubs, This is why they have you buy 2 so that you may have an alternate for the washer. They feel this will be enough to take you through the 2 years. You may purchase 5 {I'd completely understand} if you want to but they only require you to buy 2 as this is suffice {and it is}. All of the uniforms parts have the HFCC stitching on them {the polo's and lab coats} and is done by the company.

Yes. There will be plenty of samples there that you may either try on over your clothes or you may take them into the bathroom to do so. I did this in December and it can be hectic because they try to conduct orientation and do uniform purchase simultaneously so when you first arrive {try to get there early} you will have an opportunity to start sizing up your uniforms and writing up your orders-- but when its time for orientation to start, and you're not done {like a lot of people so don't worry they'll be there all day}, you'll have to wait until the next 15 min break to get it in. They don't waste a lot of time with this process so just try to get it done and over with. You will have an opportunity to purchase I believe after orientation but you're so tired of all the speakers that you just want to get out of there.

With everything I purchased 2 uniforms, stethiscope and holder, calculator clipboard, name tag pins {yes they will have other pertinent and non pertinent items for sale} my total was about 150 without the extras it would've been about 110-115.

Finally. Scrubs/Uniforms may NOT be worn on HFCC campus whatsoever. However, scrubs/uniforms must be worn to Hospital clinicals NO EXCEPTIONS.

Sorry so long, all of my posts are. I'm kinda detailed... can't help it.

Its only 150? wow I thought it would have been a lot more I was planning on socking away about 300 over the summer twards my stuff for when I get my letter. Thanks for the info.

Yes it was actually pretty reasonable based upon if they

1. go through the same company each time

or

2. If they don't the other companies prices are fairly similar.

Maybe you should still hold on to that 300... cause maybe you'll want to purchase 5 uniforms:p

Hey...not to disappoint you now that you got all excited but it's only 150 just for the clothes. That doesn't discount everything else you need to buy (books, insurance, titers ect) So don't worry you will get your chance to spend well over 300. :-p Gotta love nursing school.

Ugh. I hear ya. I'm starting to get everything in line and just spent 150 for my titers, tb, tetorifice and drug test. I still have to get and pay for my physical, last Hep b shot and any needed boosters.
