Any one else waiting for a fall07 letter? I know they have already sent out a batch of letters, and had a orientation. Does anyone know if they have had more than one batch of letters sent out already? Or how many get sent out?

Ive already spoke with the nursing counselors, so many times, each time they tell me I should be expecting an invite. It is getting so fustrating, I have been on the waiting list of over a year. I feel like crying every time the mail runs.

Those invitation letters will go out into June. You still have plenty of time to receive one. Even though orientations have begun, there are at least five or so, until July. No is ahead of you in any way...you'll start with everyone else in the fall.

Thanks. The waiting game is horrible. I just needed some advice from someone who has been through this, or atleast has more of a clue than I do, because the counselors just give you enough info to worry you even more.

The waiting IS horrible....the worst. Keep that feeling with you as you begin nursing school - it will keep you at the books instead of wandering. Keep in mind how much you wanted this, and that desperate feeling you're having now. Remember how many people would love to have the chance you're having.

Here's a silly story: as you may know, you can cut through the Science building from the Health Careers building to get to the Student Center/Cafeteria. (For coffee) Cutting through protects you from the weather, of course. Most days I like to walk outside, as the cold jolts me awake for my nursing class. It also reminds me of the glorious fall days when I was so exhilarated to have finally started nursing school. (Cue "Sound of Music" music.)

Anyway, once in a while, and when it's raining I do take the Science bldg route, just to remind me of all the people waiting to get into the program. I see people in the different lab classrooms, slaving over A & P and Chemistry, and I just so don't ever want to be back there. Ever. The majority of people in those classes are prenursing students, and are waiting for the chance you have to get through nursing school.

If you fail a nursing class, you will be back there, either taking Patho or Chem 2.

It is a sobering stroll for me, and btw that, the cold wind that eventually hits me as I head outside, and the Starbucks all add up to get me in top shape for the three hour lecture waiting for me back at the Health Careers building. It keeps me humble, and it keeps me above the dreaded 80% mark.

Good luck as you wait for that letter. IF you are still in class this term, work extra hard these last few weeks to get the best grade you can, as well as prepare you for the kind of studying you have to do in the nursing program. Good luck to you, and let us know as soon as you receive that beautiful letter. ( I will hold onto mine for a long time.)

Funny you should mention the fact of holding onto your acceptance letter. I keep telling my husband that the actual achievement of getting into nursing school means more than the actual R.N. (Well almost. ) ;) I'm waiting on mine and should know by May 1st.

They sent out 70 letters in March and had an orientation for those last week. These were mostly postponed students or those that took the NET in 2005 or early 2006. There is another batch of 70 that are either mailed or should be ASAP. There are still another 80 to go out after that. They are accepting 220 for fall. I would email [email protected] for any updates; she is the nursing office secretary.

Hope this helps and hang in there!!!

Hello, yes I am in the program (I start aug 23rd!) and my gpa is 3.7, but at hfcc acceptance is not based on your gpa. You get placed on a waiting list once all your required classes are done and you pass the NET test. I waited a little over a year, but the wait mightg be a tad bit longer- I'm not postive. Hfcc has a great nursing program, and you can get a list of requirements from the school. If you go to the school you can pick up a catalog that gives all the requirements and class descriptions. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

Hey Y'all, I just graduated from HFCC in May, just got my RN, now the real work is beginning!

Anyway, Anna Brown is not just the office secretary, she is the QUEEN, and if you're wise you'll treat her as such. She can make you miserable if you piss her off, so don't!!!!

If you like the shoes with springs (some people love them) there are covers you can get to go over the springs so you don't get tangled in all the stuff at the bedside...

You mentioned that you waited a little over a year to be accepted. When were you placed on the waiting list? I'm trying to get in for winter 2008 - I was put on the list in Oct. 2006 so I don't know my chances.
